Te Onewa Consultants is a collaboration of professional expertise and knowledge of Antoine
and Shirley-Marie Coffin. A family run consultancy based in Tauranga with over 50 years
combined experience in the areas of environmental and cultural heritage sectors.

Antoine Coffin

Ngai Te Rangi, Ngāti Ranginui, Raukawa, French

Antoine is a specialist of 25 years’ experience in Māori resource management, cultural heritage planning, community engagement, Treaty settlements and facilitation. He is a qualified RMA Commissioner with chair endorsement, a ministerial appointed member of the Local Government review panel, a crown appointed Freshwater Commissioner, and a recipient of the NZ Planning Institute’s ‘Nancy Northcroft Planning Practice Supreme Award’.

He has worked across multiple sectors in regional and local government, corporate organisations including Heritage NZ, Auckland Regional Council, University of Auckland, Auckland War Memorial Museum and Boffa Miskell. Te Onewa Consultants allows Antoine to work on projects that he feels passionate about and challenging.

Shirley-Marie Whata-Coffin

Te Arawa, Raukawa, French

Shirley-Marie brings to the consultancy a depth of knowledge in the arts, culture, education and political sectors in New Zealand. With a strong skill set of project management, curatorial services, and leadership skills. Shirley-Marie maintains a sharp eye on our team providing invaluable advice and feedback for projects including management and organisation within the business.

She has worked in a variety of sectors including the Museum of New Zealand, now Te Papa, NZ Parliament, Te Arawa Māori Trust Board, Auckland University of Technology and Heritage New Zealand. Shirley-Marie is a qualified international Transformative Coach who works the consultancy around her whānau and community commitments.

Te Rina Coffin

Te Arawa, Ngai Te Rangi, Ngāti Ranginui, Raukawa

With a young, innovative approach to business. Te Rina brings an ‘out-of-the-box’ perspective to project and business discussions. In her final year of an undergraduate degree in Fashion & Design she provides research, social media, and technological support as well as advice that advocates 21st century understanding of branding perception and value. With a clear knowledge of business-client interactions from a designer’s perspective, she can delve deep into the minds of how the business is perceived and what cosmetically works best. Te Rina will be furthering her studies embarking on a master’s degree.
